16 – On Feeling Lost

We have all been there.  Sometimes we get lost in our jobs, relationships, our role as a parent, or simply feel lost in life in general; or how about just being really busy, losing your passion?  You know social media isn’t really helping you  feel better.  What if you can’t find your purpose?  What if you have too much going on?  If you feel overloaded, you are not alone. It doesn’t mean your life is doomed and that you will never find yourself again. Going to share the Parable of the Lost Sheep with thoughts on being lost and tips on saving money (food) reading from the Book of Exodus.  And an encouragement to establish goals.  Join.speaklifepodcast.com

The Parable of the Lost Sheep is one of the parables of Jesus. It appears in the Gospels of Matthew (Matthew 18:12–14) and Luke (Luke 15:3–7). It is about a shepherd who leaves his flock of ninety-nine sheep in order to find the one which is lost.

Luke 15

Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

15 – Why Faith and Salvation Are The Best Things Since Sliced Bread

What is faith? Are you saved? Kenn shares his faith in an honest monologue with you. And an intimate conversation with a single woman that has survived rape, molestation and homelessness.  Bible reading on the book of Exodus.  Have you decided to follow Christ?  Special musical guests, Min. McCoy and Voice United. Thank you for listening to the Speak Life Podcast.

I believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe that God sent his son to die for my sins according to the Scriptures and that he was buries, raised on the third day and he appeared to Cephas, His twelve disciples and then to 500 plus people as written in 1 Cor 15: 1-6.

The Good News is that God provided that way for man to be freed from the penalty of sin. The bad news is not all will be saved, only those who put their faith in Jesus will go to heaven according to Act 4:12.

It’s the best news anyone will ever hear and what they do with this news will determine where he/she will spend eternity. God is calling you to choose life. Call on the name of the Lord and be saved. (Romans 10:13)

When talking about faith I often get a question about what color was Jesus, or how can I trust a Bible written by the King of England? A bible that 200 years ago was used to support slavery by racists. The Dead Sea Scrolls, found in 1947, verified the accuracy of transmission of the Old Testament. These manuscripts dated as far back as 400 BC, and were virtually identical to the Masoretic Text dating to around 1000 AD. The evidence for the New Testament is far stronger than authors like Plato, Aristotle, or Socrates, yet no one dreams of questioning their authenticity. Bible people, places, etc. previously declared to be myths such as Sodom & Gomorrah, the Tower of Babel, evidence of the Exodus, the ‘falling outward’ Walls of Jericho, the Hittites, King David, and Pontius Pilate all verified as accurate.

I first heard about God from my grandmother. She had the Lajos (Louis) Jambor Jesus painting in her “parlor”. The fact that this was a white dude with brown hair didn’t matter to me. I can say that with conviction because in the 70’s when I became “conscious” and folks started talking about Black Jesus., it didn’t change how I felt that he died for me.

Then as I hit my teens and the Black Power movement grew, I had my afro, dashiki and embraced the things we learned from Alex Haley’s Roots.

I didn’t know that the Bible could be anything other than the King James version with the Shakespearean English until later. Then I learned there were other translations of the old Hebrew Masoretic text and Greek and Aramaic. But still I believed it was the inspired words of God. I knew it was a Holy Book although I could explain it. I went to Bible college and learned enough to know I don’t know the answers to too much.

I could tell you about all the times I was physical rescued, saved from harm by a supernatural force but the explanation doesn’t equal the incident. I could try to debate or argue my points but I am not that good. I could share with you that I have heard the voice of God and felt His presence. And the power of the Holy Spirit but you can’t bleive what I say.

It always comes down to faith. Not matter how much education you have. No matter how much you can reason or rationalize. It all comes down to faith.

To live by faith means that you continue on trusting God because your faith is in HIM and not in your comforts, your health, your needs, your emotions, or your intellect. To live by faith means that you trust the Lord in all circumstances. In this, God is glorified.

Do you think that the God of Glory who died on the cross and rose from the dead is going to leave you or forsake you? He cannot. Therefore, your faith in Him is well placed. But remember, His perfecting of your faith sometimes requires you to actually live by it. Keep your eyes on Him and remember that His love and commitment to you was proven on the cross. That will make it easier to endure the times of perfecting your faith.

First, we must hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17, KJV). One is not a Christian because his parents are. Faith cannot be inherited (Ezekiel 18:20). Each person must believe in Jesus Christ for himself. Christianity is a religion of teaching (Matthew 28:19-20). Unless one has heard the Gospel and learned that Jesus Christ died for his sins, was buried, and arose from the dead, he cannot be saved (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). The apostle Paul wrote: “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14) One must first hear the Gospel before he can believe it.

Second, one must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:16). Jesus said: “…except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins” (John 8:24). The jailor at Philippi asked Paul and Silas, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They told him to “Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house” (Acts 16:30-31). Jesus also said: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:16). One comes to believe in Jesus Christ when he hears the Gospel taught. Faith comes only by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). This is the reason it is so important that the Gospel be preached to the whole world (Mark 16:15).

Remember, the Bible says we are saved by grace through faith… God sees our heart. We are not saved by simply saying some special words in a formal prayer. We are saved when we reach out by faith, admitting our sin, believing on Christ and confess Him as our Lord and Savior. Saving faith produces a forever changed life. If you have prayed this prayer, we rejoice with you. Heaven itself is even rejoicing with you!

Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who

repents.”

– Luke 15:10 NKJV

13 – Greg Medford on his life, knife making, philosophy and religion

On this New Year episode, I have a lengthy conversation with a brilliant man that I respect and admire.  Greg Medford is my guest of Medford Knife and Tool Co.  He has some different ideas about faith, religion and philosophy and gives strong opinion about it.  I present him to you in hopes that you will not shy away from hearing someone who knows what HE believes.  I believe that YOU should seek to believe as strongly in Jesus Christ as he does about his philosophies.

[Podcast Episode 12] Immanuel, Malachi, Money and a friend named Ben

The reason for the season we call Christmas, my thoughts on how folks think about giving money at Church, interview with the owner and creator of Joyce Pipes, the Bible verses leading up to the Ten Commandments as I read from the book of Exodus.

Immanuel (Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל meaning, “God with us”

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.  Luke 2:11

The real message of Christmas is not the gifts that we give to each other. Rather, it is a reminder of the gift that God has given to each of us. It is the only gift that truly keeps on giving, love.

In our money section, Kenn reads and talks about what the book of Malachi says about tithes and offerings, how it is abused and misused.  How what we do affects our ministry.  Its more than money.

“We must all learn to live together as brothers or we will all perish together as fools.  We are tied together in the single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality.  And whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.  For some strange reason I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be.  This is the way God’s universe is made; this is the way it is structured.”            Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

9 – Real Men Follow Jesus

On episode 9, I would like to introduce a new feature that will give you information about keeping your money, and improving your finances.  To start it off this week we are talking credit cards.  You know those little things we can’t do without these days?  The podcast received 1000 downloads for the month and I estimate about 100 subscribers.  If you like the show will you leave it a positive review on Apple podcast or Google Play

Our weekly bible reading begins the book of Exodus, the second book of Moses.

I have a special guest on this week’s show.  His name is Paul G. Markel.  He is a good guy in my book.  He is an example of a Christian man that is not portrayed on TV and movies.  He is also a warrior, father, and husband.

He has worn many hats during his lifetime. He has been a U.S. Marine, Police Officer, Professional Bodyguard, and Small Arms and Tactics Instructor. Mr. Markel has been writing professionally for law enforcement and firearms periodicals for nearly twenty years with hundreds and hundreds of articles in print. Paul is a regular guest on nationally syndicated radio talk shows and subject matter expert in firearms training and use of force.  He has a large internet presence under the name Student of the Gun. (SOTG)  In this conversation, he shares info on three books of the many he has penned.

·         Faith the Patriot: a Belief Worth Fighting for

Last week I was pretty successful with my podcasting projects even though I am not real happy with the quality of the recordings that I dropped into my shows.  I hope you forgive me for that.  I think it was because I was off my normal schedule and wanted to produce everything before everybody came home for the holiday meal.

Thanksgiving day, I got a chance to go visit my son in his new place.  I am so proud of the man.  I fired up the van that I plan to have restored and made into an evangelical vessel for this podcast. And watched him play one of his favorite video games on a 60 inch tv.  Hard to believe how blessed we are.

Well I was getting ready to leave for dinner and jumped back in the van.  Reminded my son, not to be late for Thanksgiving Day dinner, put the key in the ignition and the van wouldn’t start.  It ran and ran.  I decided to ditch it for the day and hope that nobody would leave it sitting on blocks before I could get a tow truck to take it to my favorite mechanic.  We had to literally push this 8500 lb beast out of his driveway and onto the street.  I was praying as I pushed this thing that it would hug the curb and be in a safe place.  The Lord provided.   I jumped in the car with my son and we arrived home to eat dinner with my wife and daughter that had been cooking for 24 hrs. I believe.  My daughter’s boyfriend and son came over later after we were patting our bellies and loosening our belts.

Well, looks like the fuel pump is gone, the sensors need to be replaced, something wrong with the transmission, the Serpentine belt needs replacement, it needs new rims, and a radio but I still like this vehicle.  It’s paid for.  It is a beast.  And after I get all the mechanical stuff fixed its going to get the facelift so that it can be wrapped to market and evangelize.  http://gofundme.com/speaklifepodcast

Thank you for being with me.

We have these treasures in earthen vessels

I have tried many things over the years and unfortunately have a reputation for it.  Whenever I interview someone for anything outside of my Black Man with A Gun persona, they remind me of all the things I have tried, started, and failed.  It is never done maliciously.  It is just a statement of fact.  The Black Man with a Gun persona refers to the gun rights activism, firearms training business, website and podcast I have had since 1991.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall. ~ Confucius

On October 1, 2017, I started to plan a new podcast in spite of my record.  My goal is to do the will that God has for my life.

Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.  Ephesians 3:7

Acknowledging that I am far from perfect.  I am still a work in progress.  On my best days I know that I have this gift of His grace in an “earthen vessel.”

The Speak Life Podcast is a ministry for all that want it.  I will be providing insight into the Bible.  We will be sharing the Gospel message.  The mission is to help others make better life choices, and provide mobile Christian fellowship that transforms lives.  I got this from Isaiah 52:7 which three points I am going to follow for this show.

•             Bringing Good News
•             Proclaiming Peace
•             Proclaiming Salvation

The next big thing is that I am working on the paperwork for a nonprofit.  I am already one in Maryland but have to make it federal.  There is always something you don’t know.

During the Thanksgiving holiday I heard a lot of bad news.  Several people took their own lives.  Some murdered their families (none of these I knew personally but someone did).  Evil is still here.  Please pray for me to stay focused, defeat the enemies of God and be an effective witness for Christ.  Thank you for listening to this show.

I looked at the download stats last night and saw that the show has had 1000 downloads in November.  I also saw about 100 regular subscribers.  Thank you.

Please share what I can help you with in Christ.  What are the subject of your prayers?  How do you want me to pray for you or what petition do you desire confirmation?  Are you saved?   What questions do you have about faith, and God?  Would you like a conversation via phone or video?

Please let me know.

I am designing a lapel pin, would you want one?  Let me know.

Secrets of a happily married man [podcast 7]

On this episode of the Speak Life Podcast I share some thoughts I call “Exposing the Secrets of A Happily Married Man”
You can get the Kindle version here http://a.co/diLX7mM its not a pretty book, but all the text I spoke can be found there if you want it.

In our Bible reading, we continue with the story of Joseph of Genesis.

Please leave a review in Apple Podcast for the show.

1 Peter 3:7
You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;

Prayer

Thank You Lord for the gift of my dear wife.

Help me to be the husband that You would have me be – to encourage her and love her as Christ loved the church and to think of her needs and wishes before my own.
Let me, make me, be a encouragement in her life and her covering of protection from the evils of this world. Help me to be sensitive to her needs – knowing that I have often not realized that some of my actions and attitudes have come across as uncaring….

Father, You are love. We are not. Help us to remember that it’s not our job to get it right all of the time. We are created in Your image but we are not You and cannot love, or receive love, perfectly. Bless our marriages with a camaraderie of seeking You above each other, in trust that You hear us, love us, and are capable of the impossible.

Lord, teach me to be a good husband – a man that is prepared to lead and to listen – a man that is prepared to carry out my duties, both wisely and lovingly – for I desire to take on the role that You have ordained for me in our marriage, in a manner that is well-pleasing in Your sight, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
